Aim: Retrospective analysis of results of endovascular treatment of complicated aortic dissection type B using thoracic stent grafts (SG) and stents. Material and Methods: We treated 34 patients (7 women, 27 men, mean age 60.4 years) endovascularly due to complicated dissection B of thoracic aorta from February 2001 to August 2014. Indication to treatment was acute rupture of aorta in 6 cases, ischemic complications in 12 cases, early aortic expansion in 10 cases, back pain and refractory hypertension despite full medical therapy in 6 cases. Results: We implanted 49 stent grafts in 34 patients (1.4 SG/patient). To improve perfusion of dissected...

Interv Akut Kardiol. 2015;14(3):109-116

The review-based paper describes the measurement options – clinical (office), ambulatory, home blood pressure measurement including the self-monitoring in patients suffering from hypertension. Next, measuring in pharmacies and telemedicine monitoring approaches are described too. There are also summarized findings of information connected to the validation and control of the technical equipment and principles of approaches to the blood pressure measurement, including the elimination of potential mistakes with the respect of the confounding phenomena. Darja Krupina, Edvardas Zurauskas, Pranas Serpytis, Mindaugas Balciunas

Interv Akut Kardiol. 2015;14(3):120-122

Interv Akut Kardiol. 2015;14(3):124-128

Background: The IMProved Reduction of Outcomes: Vytorin Efficacy International Trial (IMPROVE-IT) is evaluating the potential benefit for reduction in major cardiovascular (CV) events from the addition of ezetimibe versus placebo to 40 mg/d of simvastatin therapy in patients who present with acute coronary syndromes and have low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) ≤125 mg/dL. Methods: Randomized double blind clinical trial in patiens with acute coronary syndrome and low cholesterol level. The simvastatin monotherapy arm‘s LDL-C target was
