Harm of IMA or LAD as a complication of permanent cardiac pacing

Perforation by a pacemaker electrode is a known complication of permanent cardiac pacing. The article presents two case-reports

of patients with injury of IMA and LAD caused by a wrong placement or by dislocation of pacing electrodes. Both patients required

acute therapeutic intervention – pericardial puncture with evacuation of pericardial effusion or cardiosurgery revision. Both case histories

show harm of IMA and LAD caused by a displacement of stimulation electrode or by its dislocation.

Keywords: permanent pacemaker implantation, perforation, pacemaker electrode, pericardial effusion
