Biodegradable coronary stents are manufactured from a material, which is completely absorbed in months to years after implantation.

In theory there are several advantages related to biodegradable stents, although clinical experience is very limited at the moment. This

article gives a review of used technologies, results of clinical trials and explain possible advantages of bioabsorbable stents.
