Myocardial rupture is serious potencially fatal complication of acute myocardial infarction. The key to management is an aggressive

approach to hemodynamic stabilization and early surgery. In some patients with ventricular septal rupture or subacute left ventricular

free wall rupture transcatheter treatment can be considered as alternative to surgery.

Keywords: acute myocardial infartion, mechanical complications, timing of surgery, transcatheter closure.
