Introduction: First studies suggested that single-site left-ventricular pacing (LVP) results in acute hemodynamic benefit that is comparable to biventricular pacing (BVP). However, the long-term effects of LVP and its influence on ventricular dyssynchrony are still not well known. Methods: In order to avoid the influence of post-infarction scar on ventricular activation, this issue was studied in patients with idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy only. Total of 27 patients with DCM and conventional indication for CRT were included in the study. They were randomized to either BV or LVP, and their clinical and echocardiographic outcomes were studied every...

Methods: Catheter ablation of symptomatic paroxysmal AF was carried out in 291 patients (73 females, 55 ± 10 years). The ablation strategy was based on conventional or electroanatomically navigated ablation around pulmonary veins (PV), and possibly left atrial linear lesions. PV isolation in all patients, and termination of an ongoing AF in some patients, were the endpoints of the procedure. Results: Repeat ablation was performed in 60 (21 %) patients; 17 (6 %) patients, and 2 (1 %) patients underwent two, respectively three repeat ablations. There were 4 significant periprocedural complications (1.4 % per patients, 1.1 %...

Antithrombotic drugs are the cornerstone of the cardiovascular medicine. Bleeding is certainly the hottest problem of the chronic antithrombotic therapy. Contemporary bleeding scales do not assess bleeding complications of anticoagulation and/or antiaggregation therapy, because they were primarily designed for trombolysis in pantients with myocardial infarction. The new bleeding score proposal was developed to focus on chronic antithrombotic therapy and their complications. The recent data from many registers shows incorrect dosage of antithrombotic therapy and define risc factors of bleeding.

Paradoxical embolisation of thrombi, gas bubbles and also vasoactive substancies is possible due to foramen ovale patens (PFO). Right to left shunt formation supports arterial blood desaturation in certain diseases. Article is describing diseases related to PFO. We are showing indications and interventional approach to PFO closure.

Introduction: Pulmonary embolism belongs to leading causes of death from cardiovascular mortality. A particularly important place has a massive pulmonary artery embolism with collapse of circulation and indication to surgical thrombectomy. The case report discusses variable etiology and combination of risk factors. Case report: A thirty year old female patient after a fall from bicycle with posttraumatic rupture of the liver, massive hemotherapy, disseminated intravascular coagulation, brain edema, complicated by massive pulmonary embolism with circulation failure. A surgical thrombectomy was performed with evacuation of multiple thrombotic masses. Results:...
