Vážené kolegyně, vážení kolegové,

v tomto speciálním vydání časopisu Intervenční akutní kardiologie jsme se Vám, společně kardiologové a kardiochirurgové, pokusili přiblížit stávající poznatky především o nefarmakologické léčbě závažné mitrální regurgitace (MR), druhém nejčastějším chlopenním postižení dospělé evropské populace (1). Složitá anatomie mitrální chlopně a měnící se morfologický i klinický obraz nemocných nás nutí ke komplexním úvahám při hledání optimální léčebné strategie a úzké mezioborové spolupráci při její realizaci. V souvislosti s věkem narůstá výskyt MR, takže se stárnutím populace je nutné počítat i s nárůstem klinicky významné MR v budoucnosti...
