The number of women with congenital heart diseases and cardiomyopathies rises in our population with increasing amount
of these women reaching adulthood and planning pregnancies. Gravidity brings plenty of physiological changes, which might
have arrhytmogenic influence on myocardium with genesis of both supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias. Serious reasons
force us to consider implantation of cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) during pregnancy. This is a very rare performance that can be
undertaken with fluoroscopic or echocardiographic control. In the literature there are only few cases of ICD implantation during
gravidity to be found. We present a case of 38 years old woman with known nonischemic cardiomyopathy after severe episode
of ventricular tachycardia in the first trimester of gravidity with subsequent ICD implantation in secondary prevention of sudden
cardiac death.
