Peri-operative care of patients with antikoagulantion therapy

Bashar Aldhoon, Josef Kautzner
Klinika kardiologie, Institut klinické a experimentální medicíny, Praha

The management of anticoagulation therapy in peri-operative setting is a common problem, because of required balancing

between thromboembolic risk and hemorrhagic risk arising from surgery. Evidence from randomized studies regarding the

optimal peri-operative approach is lacking. This review summarizes the available evidence for peri-operative management

in patients on anticoagulation therapy. At the same time presents a practical approach for optimal peri-operative strategy in

this group of patients.
