The aim of this paper was to summarize published information obtained from relevant outputs of publications, which were focused on the
area of possibilities of non-invasive blood pressure measurement in patients with arterial hypertension. As a method of conceptualizing, the
approach using the analysis, comparison, critical discussion and summary of published results of research and studies (after elimination of
duplicates) that were specifically sought in the period 2000–2014 in available on-line databases, was used. The specific key words and their
combinations with Booley´s operators was used in EBSCO, PubMed, ProQuest, Science Direct databases, Google Scholar and available full texts
of journals published by SOLEN were used too. The paper describes the measurement techniques, cuffs used for measuring, the position
of the patient during measurement, technical equipment used for measurement, necessity of validation and control of devices and the
principles of right measurement, including the elimination of potential mistakes with the respecting of the influencing phenomena.
