THROMBUS TRAPPED IN A PATENT FORAMEN OVALE

We describe a case of 68-year-old man admitted to our institution with thrombus trapped in patent foramen ovale after massive pulmonary embolism. The patient was treated by heparin intravenously and later by kumarins. After one week thrombus disappeared. During the second hospitalization after three months PFO was occluded by Amplatzer device.
