Paper submission

Authors will be sent notifications of the receipt of manuscripts and editorial decisions by e-mail.
All submitted manuscripts are reviewed initially by the Interventional Cardiology and Acute Cardiac Care Editor-in-Chief with respect to the following criteria: material is original, study methods are appropriate, data are valid, conclusions are supported by the data and topic has general medical interest. Manuscripts not suitable for publication are rejected promptly. Other manuscripts are sent to two independent experts for peer review. Peer reviewer identities are kept confidential, and also authors identities and their institutions are kept confidential to reviewers. The existence of a manuscript under review is not revealed to anyone other than peer reviewers and editorial staff. Peer reviewers are required to maintain confidentiality about the manuscripts they review. Final decision regarding manuscript publication are made by an Editor on the basis of reviewers decision to publish without further revision, with minor or major revision or reject the manuscript. In cases with equivocal recommendation of reviewers, the final decision is made by Editorial Board.

All papers should comply with the World Medical Association Declaration of Helsinki – Ethical Principles for Medical Research Involving Human Subjects adopted by the 18th WMA General Assembly, Helsinki, Finland, June 1964 with subsequent amendments as well as with the ICMJE Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals, update December 2018.

  • Only original papers that were not published or submitted in another journal will be accepted. This fact must be stated in the accompanying letter.
  • The language: the Editor is accepting papers in Czech, Slovak or English, the paper will be published in the language it was submitted in.
  • Language corrections: the editor has the right of language correction of the manuscript. Before a publication authors will receive a paper for correction.
  • The acceptance for publication depends on the decision of the Editorial Board based on the review by two independent reviewers. The first author will be informed about the acceptance for publication or refusal within 5 weeks after submission.
  • Manuscripts corresponding to the above mentioned requirements should be sent electronically to the following address: vojacek@solen.cz. Manuscript composition

  • Title page: title of the paper, abbreviation of the paper title, full first and family names of all authors including the institutions. The address of the first author, telephone number and e-mail address.
  • Structured summary: brief summary of contribution in the limit of 200 words. Original papers should include the aim of the study, methods, results and conclusions.
  • Key words: in the range of 3–6 (the use of Index Medicus is recommended)
  • The English translation of the title, structured summary and key words.
  • The text itself: original papers should keep the following structure: Introduction, Patient population, Methods including statistics and Information about patient consent with the research and Ethics Committee approval, Results, Discussion, References.
  • Ethics Committee approval of reported human or animal studies is necessary condition for publications. This fact must be explicitly stated in the Methods Section of the paper.
  • Informed Consent in written or oral form should be obtained from all patients included to the study groups analysed in the submitted paper and this must be indicated in the Methods Section of the article.
  • Conflict of interest: all submitted papers must have written statement about conflict of interest or to acknowledge that the authors have no conflict of interest.
  • Statistics: describe in detail all used statistical methods to enable a verification of results. Make sure to use adequate statistical methods, detailed consultations with statistician is recommended.
  • References: should be numbered by Arabic figures according to their first occurrence in the text. Personal communications and unpublished observations should be generally avoided, if used they are stated in brackets directly in the text and are not included in the literature. In References to papers that are so far unpublished but accepted for publication write the journal name with the note "in press"

  • Images, Figures, Tables is possible to mail:
a) e-mail – in electronic way: photographs – scan to CMYK in the size of final print to 300 dpi, color images optional (further information on 582 397 459, or e-mail: matousek@solen.cz)
b) by mail – originals will be returned after the publication. All images should be numbered by corresponding numbers to the text. If the images are reprints from other journals, statement of original source is necessary as well as a written consent by the subject having the copyright.

Note to authors

The contributions should be written in a common text editor, but notice following remarks:

  • Recommended font size 12, line space 1.5
  • Differentiate thoroughly figures 1 and 0 from I and O
  • No space before punctuation marks, one space after
  • Measures should be divided by a space from values, use metric and SI units
  • Abbreviations should be explained on their first occurrence, do not use abbreviations in the title
